Volunteer with Glass Art Kalamazoo

Our volunteers are the best! Our volunteer corps helps us in a variety of ways – from making beads for children with cancer to staffing a special event. Without the support of the entire community, especially our amazing volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do. We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities available throughout our organization from building maintenance to gallery assistance to board service. Many of our volunteers earn incentives, such as studio time and class credit.

Events

We have several events throughout the year including Art Hops, Blue Heat Glass Art Auction and Gala, Art on the Mall, Hot Glass on Tap, and Glassblowers Battle. We are always looking for help to make these events successful!

Facilities and Gallery Assistance

With 7,000 square feet of space, we always have some cleaning projects. We also schedule days to clean before our events. We also appreciate volunteers for those days that we “spruce” up the gallery and gift shop.

Volunteer Corps Incentive Program

Glass Art Kalamazoo is a nonprofit glass art center established in 2002. The organization is orchestrated by a small staff of full time employees supported by a larger group of volunteers. Volunteers are utilized to staff the Reflections Gallery; perform light office and bookkeeping duties; help with promotions and social media outreach; clean, organize, and assist in the glass studios; and assist with Special Events and Programs.
Volunteer hours are logged and cumulated, and all volunteers are invited to a yearly Volunteer Recognition Event where they will receive a certificate honoring their hours served in that year. Each volunteer is also enrolled in our Volunteer Incentive Program, which rewards them for total hours served. The following is a list of rewards available at milestone completions of volunteer service:

10 Hours of Volunteering = Free Glass Art Kalamazoo Volunteer Sticker

25 Hours of Volunteering = Free Glass Art Kalamazoo T-Shirt or 1 hour free studio rental*

40 Hours of Volunteering = Free “Make It!” Glass Class or 3 hours free studio rental*

75 Hours of Volunteering = Free “Make It!” Glass Class or 3 hours free studio rental*

100 Hours of Volunteering = Free Personal Handmade Glass Art Piece made by our Artists.

*must have Studio Manager approval.

Make a Difference and Volunteer Today!

Volunteers from all walks of life are invited to become members of Glass Art Kalamazoo’s Volunteer Corps. If you like glass, or art in general, or simply like working with friendly people, you can help Glass Art Kalamazoo serve your community. Along with glass art expertise, we value volunteers with skills as organizers, phone callers, greeters, mailers, and/or as leaders.
All Glass Art Center Volunteer Corps members will receive a handbook outlining opportunities, responsibilities, and Glass Art Kalamazoo policies and safety regulations. A member of the staff will serve as Volunteer Liaison to insure smooth communication between you and the organization. Please Note: background checks are required for volunteers who work with children.
