Check out our list of upcoming events for updates!

Family Fun Day, Hot Date Night, Glass with Friends, and Explore Glass Art Day

Once a semester, GAK hosts additional fun events in our studios!

Our Family Fun Day is a walk-in fused glass project event open to all ages (adult supervision required for students 14 and under), and all skill levels. Cost varies on the type of project you do! No pre-registration required, just walk-in and create art!

Surprise your sweetie with a fun and unique night out at our Hot Date Night. In this two-hour long couples-oriented event, you and your date will create projects in both our Hot Shop and Kiln Fusing Studios. Together, you will create one blown glass heart paperweight and two kiln fused tiles. Space is limited to 4 couples per session and the cost is $110/couple. ALL skill levels welcome, no experience necessary. Ages 16 and up.

Join us for our new event, “GWF – Glass with Friends”, a time to gather your friends and experience glass together. Each participant will work side-by-side with our talented instructors to create a project in our Glass Blowing and Kiln Fusing studios. Cost is $90 per ticket, and includes entry for one person. Each participant will create one Blown Glass Paperweight, and one Kiln Fused Suncatcher. Space is limited, so gather your friends and book this fun class!

Explore Glass Art Day (EGAD) is just what the name implies – a chance to explore each of the types of classes that we offer at GAK. Each ticket will include 3 finished projects: a Blown Glass Ornament, a Lampworking Pendant, and a Kiln Fused Tile. Cost is $100 per ticket. This popular class typically sells out!

Note: You could put a feed of the upcoming events for these on this page if you would like. You can combine Art Hop and Art on the Mall onto one page if you would like much like the classes page with information at the top and then the feed for the events below. Blue Heat, Glassblowers Battle, HGOT and Tours and Demonstrations should all be their own page. Private parties and Corporate Teambuilding can be combined as well. There are pictures for all of these on the google folder.

Blue Heat Glass Art Gala and Auction

A celebration of good food, great drinks, music, and our outstanding glass art community! Traditionally held on a Saturday in February or March from 7-10pm at our studios, 326 W. Kalamazoo, Suite #100 in the Park Trades Center building. Early bird tickets are available for $65 or can be purchased at the door for $75. Your ticket includes a hand-blown glass, food, drinks, and entertainment. Guests are encouraged to wear blue attire for this event. Space is limited so buy your tickets early!

This fun, funky evening is all about cool art in a hot setting! Guests will have an opportunity to mix and mingle while bidding on fantastic, one-of-a-kind glass art pieces in both live and silent auctions. The stunning art to be auctioned has been collected from visiting artists, public demonstrations, and the high-octane excitement of the Glassblowers Battle. This is Kalamazoo’s only glass art auction and guests will have the chance to take home their very own piece of glass art – an investment in the arts community that they will enjoy for years to come.

Glassblowers Battle

Our primary fund/friend-raising event brings out more than 700 guests to enjoy a unique, memorable, and thrilling glass art competition. Over the course of two days (Friday and Saturday) in May, glass artists will compete in six events between two different arenas (studios) to prove that they create the best glass art in the area! The competition culminates in a celebration and awards event on Sunday afternoon. All events are held at our location in both the Hot Shop and Lampworking studios.
This event is FREE to the public and includes both judged and public voted components to decide winners. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners in each category. Sponsors are solicited for this event to offset the cost. Donations are collected during the event as well. To donate to this event, click here. A signature event at this competition showcases our partnership with Bronson Children’s Hospital where children from the hospital draw pictures and our hot glass artists recreate the picture into a glass sculpture.

Hot Glass on Tap, Oktoberfest

An Oktoberfest-themed fundraising party, on a Saturday in late September or early October from 7-10pm at 326 W. Kalamazoo, Suite #100 in the Park Trades building. A fun night of great music and live glass blowing performances in multiple studios awaits our guests each year. It features an Oktoberfest theme, a selection of ice-cold beer and tasty food, and hot glass performances. Admission is $50 and includes a hand-blown beer mug, four drink pour tickets, food, and entertainment. Also available for purchase are one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins and additional drink tickets. Guests can expect a festive atmosphere with exciting visuals, groovy music, gorgeous art, and delicious food & drinks!
