Class Policies
LIABILITY WAIVER:
A liability waiver must be completed and signed by students prior to participating in any studio class. Waivers will be available to sign prior to class. Students less than 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver.
AGE REQUIREMENT:
Students must be at least 12 years old to participate in any classes. Students 12 – 13 years old may participate in classes with an adult chaperone present. Students 8 years of age and older may participate in a “Kids Create!” class when accompanied by an adult chaperone. Exceptions include youth camps, classes, or workshops.
SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS:
If you require special accommodations to take this class, please contact us prior to booking the class. While we do everything possible to make our classes accessible, extra preparations or restrictions may be necessary for your safety.
PHOTO RELEASE:
By entering Glass Art Kalamazoo, you consent to your likeness and or voice being used, without compensation, in all media, in perpetuity, and you release Glass Art Kalamazoo, its successors, assignees, and licensees from liability pertaining to this usage. If you wish to be exempted from having your likeness used, please email [email protected].
ITEM PICK-UP:
Due to the nature of hot glass, you will not be able to take any items with you. Hot glass must cool slowly over time to prevent stresses that will cause it to break. Items can be picked up at the front desk 7-10 days after your class or shipping can be arranged. You will receive an email when your item is ready for pick-up. You will receive several email reminders to pick-up your item. Items not picked up after three months will be recycled. Pleas contact us at (269) 552-9802 or [email protected] to arrange shipping if you are unable to pick-up your items.
STUDIO REQUIREMENTS FOR CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR:
It is important that all students are dressed appropriately for their own safety and the safety of others. For any class, participants are required to wear:
Natural fibers are necessary because synthetic fibers (such as spandex or polyester) can be highly flammable and are prone to melting when encountering the very high temperatures of hot glass, furnaces, tabletop torches, and kilns.
Anything that hangs away from the body like long necklaces, scarves, ties, or oversized cardigans, etc. should be left at home or removed before class.
Jeans and t-shirts are great.
Shorts are discouraged or should be at least knee-length.
Flip flops, sandals, open-back shoes, or crocs are not permitted. Something with a textured sole isn’t absolutely necessary, but certainly helpful.
Hair that hangs forward, covers eyes, or can be tied back should be tied back.
The use of our studios requires the use of safety glasses while participating. We provide these for your use.
Individuals not adhering to the clothing and footwear requirements will NOT be able to participate in class.

STUDENT DISMISSAL POLICY: If a student’s behavior is deemed to be rude, disruptive, or inappropriate, the instructor maintains the right to dismiss the person from the class with a warning.
