Cold Shop.
This is a 2 day workshop,
Day 1: Monday, March 4 (5:30-8:30pm)
Day 2: Monday, March 11 (5:30-8:30pm)
Do you have a glass piece that doesn’t sit flat? Is an edge not quite straight? If you have completed Glass Blowing Essentials 2 or are an experienced glass artist and want to learn how to finish your pieces in our Cold Shop, this class is for you. This 2-day course introduces students to the fundamentals of cold working. Students will receive an overview of the studio and equipment in the Cold Shop, shop safety, using standard cold working equipment and shop etiquette. Students will learn how to safely and effectively work on the slurry grinder, polishing grinder, vertical wet belt sander, wet tile saw, and a dremel. Other machine and non-machine options (like gluing) may be discussed. The first day of class you will learn how to operate the machines, Cold Shop safety, and will work with blanks to test each machine. The second day of class, you will bring in artwork that you would like to finish and our instructor will assist you in completing those projects. After completion of the class, you will be able to confidently rent the Cold Shop.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Students must have completed Glass Blowing Essentials 2, or are an experienced glass artist.
Students must be 14 years or older.
