Jake brought his first torch and began working with molten glass back in 1997 after reading an article about pipe-making in High Times Magazine. In 2000, he quit his job to pursue flameworking as a full-time career. 2 years later he moved back to Kalamazoo -his childhood home- to work with Meints Glassblowing as a scientific glassblower. He became a founding board member of an organization that would became Glass Art Kalamazoo. Jake now owns and runs Kzoo Glassworks and lives with his wife and son on the west side of Kalamazoo. When not blowing glass or being a dad he likes to spend his time outdoors, travel, and water sports.
