2 day (6 hours) Lampworking Summer Camp for Kids
Popular Glass Art Kalamazoo Summer Glass Camps are back with a different and more in dept concept.
In this 2-day lampworking camp, the students will explore the limits of boro-silicate glass with our experienced instructors. The camp will cover the basics of lampworking techniques and beyond. Campers will learn to melt and shape glass rods in the torch flame and create different objects such as pendants, marbles, etc. Additionally, students will be introduced to the scientific concepts that have shaped modern glass making and the history of glass art and craft in America.
No previous experience necessary! Suitable for ages between 12-18.
Student work will be displayed in our gallery during Art Hop on Friday the 7th 5-9 pm.
Cost: $350 per camper. Includes all materials, snacks and beverages, and an official summer camp T-shirt. 10% Member Discount for current Glass Art Kalamazoo members.
Tuesday, August 4 (1 – 4 pm), camp day 1
Thursday, August 6 (1 – 4 pm), camp day 2
The finished pieces will be ready for pickup on Tuesday August 11th.
