Chris is a glass artist from the metro Detroit area. Originally a student of animation at the college for creative studies, he found a love for glass while taking an elective course. Finding the material so fascinating, he began to change his artistic focus. Doing everything he could to blow glass as often as possible. After graduating, he moved to Denver Colorado and began working at C and H glassworks, where he became a production glass artist. Working on a variety of product lines. Currently, he works as a gun for hire in various studios in the Detroit area, teaching classes at Michigan Hot Glass, making production glass and assisting on a wide variety of projects. He currently studies the material under Marc Vandenberg and Albert Young.
Having recently purchased a mobile hot shop, he will be setting up at various locations throughout the state, demoing the art of crafting glass. Whether it’s the Battle of the glassblowers, The Michigan Glass Project, or anywhere hot glass is being crafted you will find Chris Ervin sharing his love for the material. It brings him great joy to share the knowledge that he has gained through his career.
